Studio Calico Blog Hop

Welcome to the Studio Calico blog hop.

We're celebrating State Fair and Countryside being added to the online shop. Most of you have had the opportunity now to purchase it from your local scrapbook store or favorite online retailer, and now we're happy to provide some additional inspiration.

A fun layout I made using an old photo from my trip to Texas before Claire was born. This was the trip my feet swelled so big and never went down....well, they went down about a week after her birth, but it seemed like forEVER.

And, just a quick tutorial for creating those open scalloped circles.

Choose 2 circle punches, one slightly larger than the other.

Punch the smaller first.

Then, turn the larger upside down and center over the window.

To glue, I used the Martha Stewart glue pen and one of the punched circles as a guide.

Circle punches are some of my favorite tools, but one of my favorite items on this layout is the Heart Veneer, which I will give to one of my blog readers. To win, simply leave a comment here letting me know what you call your grandma. Winner will be posted on April 18.

Your next stop....the amazing Celine Navarro.

And if you lose your way, you can always use the designer links to the left on my blog or on the SC blog (to the right).

Neither of my Grandmas are around anymore, but I did just call them Grandma. It got confusing sometimes though as one of them had the first name of Carol, and one of them had the last name of Carel. You couldn't just say Grandma Carol-you had to be specific. :)

When we were little it was always Grandma, but as we got older (like late teens, early twenties)we called her by her given name. It kinda became a fun thing because she was one of those grandma's that didn't want to be a grandma because that meant she was old :)

newscrapper said...

I call my grandmas grandma. But when I was a kid I used to call them up to grandmas and down to grandmas because my grandmas live about a block and a half apart and it's up or down a slight hill so when I was at down to grandmas I would say I'm going up to grandmas and vice versa . So it became up to grandmas and down to grandmas....lol
Love the hearts I am working on a shadow box for my grandmas and the veneer hearts would make a great addition.

Growing up I had a "Nanny" and an "Amma". Amma is the Icelandic way of saying grandma. Once I had kids, there was no way she wanted any part of being called the traditional "Long Amma" (Old Amma), so my kids called her "Amma Dodie" (Dodie was her nickname as a kid, as her name is Doreen). My Nanny was the sweetest ever, I really miss her. She passed away a year ago.
