day 14: happy valentine's day

Supplies: Maya Mist (Maya Road - Red); Vintage Music; Brads (Making Memories); Rub-on (Jenni Bowlin)

Hope you are having a happy Valentine's day!

Being the unsentimental kind, this holiday generally is un-holidayish for me. I'm the type of girl that prefers practicality and $90 roses would just irritate me. I would be thinking about the nice spring coat I could buy with a coupon at Banana Republic instead. Greg has taken me serious about the non-flower rule, and usually I get something interesting on Valentine's day, but this year, all I got was a funeral and graveside and a tape gun. More on that later.

I realize this whole post sounds like I'm a total Eeyore, but I'm really not. So, if you had a good day, please leave me a comment letting me know why it was special. I'd love to hear about it.

  2. My DH knows that I'd much rather have the spring coat than roses, so I'm right there with ya on that! We had a fabulous day hanging out with our kiddos. That always makes it special. (:

  3. My mom's bday was on Friday. I took my 2 lil boys and went to visit her and my sister for the day. We played some games and talked. Then when we got home My dh and all of us went to a simple dinner. Then I got to scrap after the boys went to bed!

  4. I hear you on the roses. Sometimes they are nice to get though.

My kids got to each make their own cake yesterday. You should have seen the heap of frosting and sprinkles. bleck. But they loved it.

I hope you had a nice day yesterday.... I hope everything is okay.

  7. normally, i hear you on the flowers. in fact, if my husband buys them, i like something simple - like daisies or wildflowers. he surprised me this valentines with a dozen roses. a first and we've been married about 5 years. i know i'm going to be crushed when they wither up, but it was a beautiful gift - even though i prefer the practical route, too.

  8. I am all for chocolate- flowers are pretty- but cut flowers are so fleeting. Besides, my cats like to chew on them. Give me $90.00 worth of chocolate over roses any day of the week!

    Hope things are alright.

  9. oh april...i'm sorry for your loss. a dear friend of mine died the day before v-day, so it was a tough day for me too.

(i feel that way about roses for valentines too...i'd rather have them some other day when they're not so pricey!)

  10. You and I are a lot alike! More so than I would have thought, I could have written that paragraph myself. Well, except the funeral, tape thing. Stumped on that?
