photoshop actions....playing around

I admit, I'm very very new to the whole photoshop action craze, but boy do I love them! They're so neat! Below is the photo as it was originally taken (by the fantabulous photog Greg Foster).


Here's some of the actions from PolkaDotPotato at work. Love these and picked them up by reading Karen's blog. She's an amazing photographer and knows so much more about actions than I so go read her blog if you want some good advice.


Vivid Color
Midnight Color Pro
Polaroid Transfer
Pro Black & White

Since I've been having fun, I'd like you to have fun too. Here's the deal. First, you must have Photoshop Elements, then post a comment telling me which action you like the best. Then, on Friday (my favorite day), I'll pick a winner at random and I'll buy you that action.

And, while I have your attention, I stopped by Jason and Jessica's today to see Riley. She is just so cute and precious, but she slept the whole time I was there. Jessica called me about 20 minutes after I left and said she woke up and had been alert as soon as I left. So, I'm afraid she doesn't know who I am, so I'm going to have to stop by again on Wednesday so she can properly meet me. Then, I will have pictures.

    I do have Photoshop Elements but I have never played with actions! (I would love to though!) My favorite one if the "Vivid color" one! Thank you for doing this fun giveaway!

    Way cool, April! I'm torn, but I think the vivid color action is the one I like best -- I love that "pop" of color. :)

    look how cute you are!! I have PSE 3.0 and have been wanting to try using actions but havn't yet! I like the polaroid transfer!

    I'm a digi scrapper and never have played with actions. You're so cool to do this! I really love the Vivid Color although it was so hard to choose one!

    i'm just starting to figure out CS3 and honestly i'm loving it! i may give up paper entirely. wait. nah... :)

    I am torn... probably because you are such a lovely subject, but I think if I have to choose... I like the midnight color, it looks very artistic and romantic. I could just see a layout with muted colors and this picture. I love it!

    I love the midnight color. The pro black and white is also great - I can never get pics to look that good when I try to make them that why.

    yay for actions! i've been wanting to play but didn't know where to start. i love the polaroid transfer-- looks like all the shots from my childhood. thanks, april! ps can't wait to see the goodies you have planned for sc :)

    I like the Midnite color Pro. And THANKS for this great link! I had always heard that there were not any actions for PSE, just PS, so this is great news!!

    I do have pse 6, and I think my favorite is the pro B&W because I struggle getting things into B&W with confidence, and I just love B&W. But the others were really nice too!

    I like the polaroid transfer. I have this thing called add-o-matic 6 that is supposed to install them for you but I can't seem to get it to work. What version of elements do you have? I think 5 and 6 load differently but I could be wrong about that. Where did you buy yours? I got mine from Mindy someone, a photographer, that was recommended on the SC message board. I'll try to find her last name or you may already be familiar with her.

    I love the vivid colour. Its geat to see some actions for PSE ( I have PSE 4.0 . Friday is my favourite day too...especially this week as I'm off on hols!

    Good for you, it looks like fun. I am liking Vivid Color the best, not sure if it is because the photograph orginally was over exposed so that action seems to more than correct it :-) I have PE5... I'll have to check out the sight. I've no actions...yet ;-)

    First off, awesome photo. Love the composition and the angle you are standing. I've never worked with actions, but they seem pretty cool. I tend to be drawn to the Pro Black & White. Although I like the Polaroid Transfer, too. Can you say indecisive? LOL!

    I hope Riley is wide awake and alert for you on Wednesday! :o)
